This week on etsy shop …
Here’s what found its way on to my etsy shop in the last few weeks. An eclectic mix of mid century, old tools, globes and circa early 1900s. The listings include my first piece of furniture for sale.
Vintage set of 6 iittala, Jorma Vennola designed ‘Paula’ glasses, made in Finland in the 1970s.
Below is a ‘Digsmed’ Lazy Susan / Serving Platter made in Denmark. Love the wood grain pattern on this one.
The porcelain chimney sweep figure below is made in Germany. This is actually a wedding cake topper. Why a cake topper? Apparently it is an old tradition (over 200 years old), that it is good luck for a chimney sweep to kiss the bride when she comes out of the church.
The story goes that King George II was traveling in his coach when the horse was startled. The only person brave enough to stop the horse from bolting was a local chimney sweep who got the horse under control and thus saved the Kings life. King George was so grateful to the chimney sweep that he issued a Royal Decree in favour of chimney sweeps, which resulted in them being regarded as good luck.
Its a Mad Mad Mad Mad World 1963 Stanley Kramer Movie Letterpress Printers Plate.
Below is a Sargadelos piece. Albanil, also known as The Man with the Ladder or the Mason is number 27 in the Figures Popular series created by Sargadelos Ceramics from Galicia in Northern Spain. The Figures Popular collection represents popular characters, ordinary people who have had an influence on the development of the country. Sargadelos pieces are characterised by use of bold colours, geometric patterns and bordering on abstract design.
