Ladies move from paint to thread….

Inspired by Jennifer Pudney’s needle points I decided to create one of my own after seeing a card depicting ladies swimming at the beach in red, white and blue.

For a first attempt, I basically drew the figures depicted on the left hand side of the card rather than recreating the whole card. Recreating the whole scene would probably have ended up ‘bigger than Texas’, and never been finished!

I drew the design directly onto the canvas and wasn’t too finicky about keeping to the lines. So if I thought a particular area wasn’t quite right once I got the cotton on the canvas, well I just unpicked and adapted it to how I thought it should look

My finished and much more manageable attempt measures 14cm x16cm. I will now learn about what is required to stretch and frame it.

I have found several other pictures that I think would work well so will keep you posted.
