Travel Bags

A recent get together with my sisters revealed the value of a bag to put your shoes or dirty linen in when travelling. And so it begins …. gathered up fabrics, including vintage and barkcloth pieces and got to work sewing drawstring bags in various sizes (in several instances the size of the bag depended on the amount of fabric available). For a couple of the bags I made the drawstring using the bag fabric, but in most cases just some firm ribbon does the trick.

I considered lining them with some waterproof fabric, which would be particularly useful if the shoes are wet, and may do that with the next lot! Another idea is to use the bag to give a gift in. I also remember seeing a photo of bags made out of different fabrics hung in a group on a wall and it looked really effective.
